The Camino Real Peruvian Horse Club Championship Show X will be held on September 12-14, 2008 at the Somervell County Exposition Center, in Glen Rose, Texas. The Expo center is a very comfortable and convenient location near Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
Our judge for 2008 is the Honorable Felipe Thorndyke from Lima, Peru. Sr. Thorndyke is a highly respected judge and breeder of outstanding Peruvian horses.
The CRPHC Show has been designed with the Amateur and Novice rider in mind. In addition to the regular show classes we hold: A complete Adult Amateur Novice Rider division and Adult Amateur-Owner to Ride division, each leading to its own High Point Award. Our show was the first in the Nation to include full divisions for AO and Novices in our first show nine years ago. The US National Show has included these divisions for the first time in 2007!
Because Gait is the essence of the Peruvian breed, we divide the Gait classes at our show into divisions by age as well as gender. We offer a Championship and Champion of Champions class in each gender division.
We have an entire 3 class division for Bozal horses to give these youngsters additional show experience rather than just one class as is found at most shows. We love our Junior and Adult Novice Riders and have reduced entry fees, special prizes and awards for these special folks.
Peruvian Horses are ideal for challenged riders and we have a special no entry fee (free!) class for them that is held Saturday evening. We want to encourage everyone to enjoy our special Breed.
Our good friends, the Paso Dobles exhibition team not only performs at our show, but they help us by sponsoring an evening of Fun Classes (e.g. Parade class, Egg and Spoon, Performance to Music, etc.) on Saturday evening. In 2006, The Paso Dobles started a new special award, the Top Gun Award for the Amateur-Owner rider and horse team (one horse, one rider) that accumulates the largest number of points in the fun classes and other Amateur classes at the show.
In 2007, the CRPHC initiated a new award for the stallion or mare accumulating the highest number of points in its gender/age-appropriate zootechnico, breeding, and gait classes, the Campion de Raza Award. A horse must enter all 3 of these classes prior to the start of the show to qualify for this award. Remember that hotel accommodations in Glen Rose fill up early so plan ahead and make your reservations as early as is convenient for you. See our Show Premium page for more information.
Join us for the fun in September!!! |
